AW’08
Taking inspiration from the designs of Vionnet and Poiret in the late 1920’s, the collection owes much to them in terms of colour, fabric-use and embellishment. Elaborate fabrics and luxurious silhouettes – typical of the epoch – are used here in abundance. These same elements have, however, been treated and applied in a wholly modern way: the silhouette has become ultra-sensual, with skirts nipped in just behind the knees. Seaming and contouring trace the feminine form and focus is on the waist. Coats and jackets play with fabrics in a sculptural way. Contrasting with heavily draped dresses and tops, in signature satin, ultra-fine jersey, chiffon and a gloss jersey mixed with pearlised leather. Embellishments render the collection highly luxurious, with metal and glass beads and heavily-stitched thread-work playing within the silhouette. Contrasting satin ribbons with a novel hardware fastening, inspired from a vintage bra, runs throughout the collection as a detail. Winter injects a warm mixture of grey tones – Meteorite, Tungsten and Slate – with bold highlights of Amethyst, Gold and Pearl.
