Vogue Show Report: A/W 11

GLOSSY, polished and groomed to within an inch of their lives, the Amanda Wakeley woman barely notices trends – she’s too busy proving that women can have everything: success, happiness, fulfilment, beauty. At least that’s what she looks like.
It’s super luxe power dressing and Wakeley weaved in a few of this week’s big trends – goat hair neck pieces (inside fabulous cashmere coats with triple wrapped leather belts), texture plays (panels of embellishment up the front and back of irregular panelled, form-fitting cocktail dresses and plenty of sumptuous fur), flashes of orange (the sleeves popping out of a collarless, square cut camel coat or a fox fur wrap at the neck of a funnel necked coat) and plenty of jet beading (a trend most brilliantly played out at Giles’ show last night), that came as sophisticated embellishment to stiff peplums on cocktail dresses.

A modern edge was added by way of bound leather waistbands above full black skirts and one orange dress with a studded, drawstring neckline and a heavily gold embellished midriff that became a smattering of sequins above and below the waist was a powerfully sexy moment, while dark gold chainmail decoration gave a less powerful and more sultry feel to evening wear.
It’s all about living the high life with bouncing ponytails, perfect lipstick and plenty – by which we mean a lot – of cash.” – By Dolly Jones
