Autumn/Winter
The Amanda Wakeley muse this season is a wilful, strong-minded ultra-chic woman – immaculately polished from her groomed hair to her killer heels.Luxury, as always, is key to the collection’s fabrics. Sultry silks, breezy ultra-light printed silk georgette, compact wools trimmed with velvet, draped heavy georgette, butter-soft leather, glossy long-haired Toscana shearling, fluid printed silk jersey. Beading is inspired by the arts and crafts movement - prosaic metal beads elevated to the status of fine jewellery - adorn translucent silk. This season has a sultry palette, highlighted with shades of white – birch, pastis, chalk, skin tones with accents of crimson tempered by cool celeste and glacier. Silhouettes are sharper and have a Sixties’ influence. Tailored jackets have narrow, moulded shoulders with voluminous sleeves and demi-couture details. Waists are high and figure hugging, celebrating the female form. Form and structure are co-dependent – one only meaningful with other. Draping is often suspended from foundation garments creating support but with fluidity.
