Autumn/Winter
This season I wanted to explore contrasts. The contrast of lengths, of volumes, of colours and of textures. I wanted to explore the contrasts of being a woman: a strong woman who has a soft inner femininity under a tough outer shell. A woman who is grounded yet still a dreamer and who is confident enough to be both. Contrast of Lengths: Layered knit pieces finishing on the hip under short jackets; maxi dresses sweeping the floor vs. abbreviated thigh high knitted dresses over skin tight black clad legs. Contrast of Volume: Metres of gossamer jersey in a goddess dress anchored and cinched tight to the waist with a heavy leather corset belt. Banded body-form shearlings with oversized volume hood collars. Coats either in sculpted “Blade Runner” leather or softer cocoon wraps. Contrast of Colour: Midnight vs. Gardenia; Jet vs. Soft Grayling. Two palettes circle each other in the collection – one intense, dark and glossy – the other soft, light and powdered. Contrast of Texture: Matte raw-edged felted wools vs. seamed and polished leathers; sheared velvet furs vs. feathered chiffon layers; dry compact wools vs. cool rippling silks.
