After our Wakeley Women portraiture shoot, captured by Laura Bailey and styled by Cathy Kasterine, Amanda was joined by mother daughter duo Skye Gyngell & Evie Henderson. Keep reading to discover what led these two inspirational women on their journeys.
Amanda: Skye, tell me a little bit about your journey to where you are now?
Skye: My journey to where I am now has been largely based on consistency! I’ve just stuck to doing what I love and gives me pleasure.
Amanda: What led you to be a chef?
Skye: I fell into cooking by accident - I got a job washing up in a restaurant while at university and fell in love with the whole atmosphere of the kitchen. There was also a woman there who really inspired, encouraged and mentored me - I am forever grateful to her because her patience and kindness set me on my life’s path.
Amanda: Evie, what led you to be an actor?
Evie: I'm actually not acting at the moment. This is something I did throughout my school years. I always like to hope I'll go back to it someday.
Amanda: How interesting, can you tell us more about what you are currently doing and aspiring for?
Evie: I am currently focused on the beauty world and building a brand.
Amanda: What is the best piece of advice you have received?
Skye: The best advice I’ve ever been given was something I saw on a bumper sticker - ‘Do what you love and love what you do!’ I feel that’s so important, life is so short and work is such a big part of it - it’s important to enjoy it!
Evie: Treat people how you want to be treated
Amanda: What's your favourite thing in your closet right now?
Skye: Trainers are my favourite bit of clothing, I wear them with everything!
Evie: My Byfar Rachel bag in patent black
Amanda: Skye, if you could be from any other decade (or era), which would it be?
Skye: I’m happy to live now! Although, I do worry that we need to pay attention and make lots of alterations in the way we live our lives so that future generations can live on a planet that is healthy rather than completely poisoned!
Amanda: Evie, what is your favourite movie?
Evie: Big Daddy starring Adam Sandler
Amanda: What would you say is your style DNA?
Evie: A white tank top, Levi 501s and Converse.
