WAKELEY WOMAN
Amanda in discussion with: Emily & Katie Berrington

After our Wakeley Women portraiture shoot, captured by Laura Bailey and styled by Cathy Kasterine, Amanda was joined by Emily & Katie Berrington, the sister act, who are taking the writing and acting world by storm. Read more to discover what led these two incredible women on their journeys.

Katie is an experienced writer and holds the prestigious title of Associate Digital Editor at Vogue.co.uk. Emily is an actor known most recently for ‘Machinal’ at the Almeida Theatre and her role as Niska in the Channel 4 hit series Humans.

Amanda: So, what led you on the journey to where you are now?

Emily: It was a long journey. I did a lot of amateur dramatics and finally when I left university I got a proper job and I found myself constantly reading plays and longing for some creativity. I applied to drama school and that was that. I’ve done it ever since.

Amanda: How quickly did you get picked up?

Emily: Quickly actually. I was prepared for it to be a long hard slow beginning and actually I left drama school early to do my first play at the Almeida theatre. It hasn’t been smooth sailing since then but it has been amazing!

Amanda: Katie, what led you on your journey?

Katie: I’ve always loved writing. I love writing in all its’ forms - from a well put together email to creative writing and journalism. We have actually talked about doing some writing together.

Emily: I found a little note that Katie wrote me when she was about 5 the other day that said: “Dear Emily, sorry for whatever I did.”

Katie: Full stop, no kisses!

Emily: Very heartfelt. “Whatever I did.”

Katie: I got better at apologising!
